Case Study: Valhalla Montreal

Client Overview

Valhalla Montreal's mission is to transform an 88+ acre farm that inspires a community of passionate agricultural producers and entrepreneurs to come together and build the farm of the future. And the ambitions for this farm are huge. They include building a marketplace where various vendors can sell their products and services, building a membership base, developing a podcast, renting out mini houses, generating an NFT, and much, much more.

The Problem

The challenge here – as it is with any site built from the ground up – was to imagine the functionality in advance as much as possible to avoid hindering the sites scalability moving forward. Because the farm is Montreal, QC, Canada based, there had to be a solid French version of the site alongside the English version. There needed to be a permissions system in place to account for various user types, including members, students, and vendors. There needed to be an ecommerce section which could accommodate donations, member dues, property rentals, events, and agricultural products. And since this is a membership site, we needed a fully featured account section to allow members, students, and vendors to manage their profiles.

Solution

Building on top of WordPress, we first aimed for the minimum viable website, and have been organically introducing new features as they become needed and the farm grows. See below for some example pages we built.
