Case Study: PACE, LLP
Client Overview
PACE is a well-established, bipartisan lobbying firm based in the nation’s capital. The firm was founded in 1991 when two people—a Democrat and a Republican—decided to collaborate on a joint project. Their founding principle was to provide the best possible representation for their client, and their diverse political ideologies strengthened and expanded their vision for their clients. What evolved was a commitment to providing services and consultation of the highest possible integrity, and the reason they continue to be so successful to this day.
The Problem
The client had a website, but one which dated back to the beginning of the millennium. It was built in an age before the widespread use of mobile devices, and chief amongst their concerns was their old site’s lack of responsiveness. Additionally, the previous website provided an inconsistent experience across browsers, and we had to ensure it worked in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer (IE, especially those who had to develop for IE6, still haunts the dreams of many of web developer to this very day).
The Solution
Believe it or not, this was one of the first sites I built for a major client, all the way back in 2013-14. The layout was designed by Chris Hoover of Actualize Studio, and developed on a Joomla (Kids, ask your dad). Today, WordPress is used by 43% of all websites whereas Joomla is only used by about 1.2%, according to the folks over at W3Techs. While market-shares has changed along with most of the internet in the ensuing decade, PACE’s website has not. 10 years is a long time, but by my estimation, the site still looks pretty good, and even though I’ve built about 150 websites since, this one holds a special place in my heart.
